I bet most of you are excited its pumpkin season, given also that Halloween and Thanksgiving are coming up soon! It’s that time of the year where pumpkins are literally everywhere we go, so why not take advantage of that? Pumpkin is one of the classic decorations for this season, but when cooked, the nutrient benefits are plus alphas!

Pumpkins are:

1) Low calories vegetables. It is rich in dietary fiber, anti-oxidants, minerals, vitamins.

Eat More Artichokes!

Artichokes are a beneficial vegetable that belong to the sunflower family, artichokes contain many medicinal and health benefiting qualities. Fresh artichokes are an excellent source of fiber, vitamin and folic acid. They are also a low calorie vegetable that makes them attractive to those trying to slim down. Artichokes are a popular winter vegetable, although in some countries they may be available all year long. They are a tasty vegetable that can be used in a variety of different ways, however, if your aim is to lose weight stay away from fattening dressings, and artichoke dips as they contain loads fat and calories.

Pomegranate is a nutritional fruit that is thought to have originally originated from Persia. It is one of the most known fruits and has been around for thousands of years. The fruit has been a historical symbol of fertility and eternal life.

Pomegranates not only lower cholesterol, but also lower blood pressure and increase the speed at which heart blockages go away.

Moreover, it is believed that pomegranates have been shown to inhibit breast cancer, colon cancer, leukemia, and prostate cancer. The outstanding fruit contains an excellent source of vitamin C and, has potent anti cancer and immune supporting effects.

Detoxes have become very popular, but do they really work?

Detoxes are usually done to remove toxins from the body and to lose weight. Detoxes usually consist of a strict diet that may consist of a good amount of herbal juices, fruits, fruit/vegetable juices, raw vegetables, and tons of water.

Some people are usually impressed with their bodies after completion of the detox period; some even report that they feel healthier and more energetic. However detoxes have not been scientifically proven yet.

If you are considering to start a detox, you should consult your doctor first, as some detoxes have some side effects to them such as loss of energy, paleness, loss of vitamins, and loss of concentration just to name a few.

If you are going considering doing a detox to remove toxins from the body I wouldn’t be too concerned. However, if you are considering doing a detox with the motive to lose weight, keep in mind that these fad diets aren’t a good term solution and will most likely end up affecting you negatively. The best solution to keep up with the results of a detox is to adapt a healthy diet by making it a lifestyle change to maintain for long term results instead of short term results.

I’m craving 1) Reduced Fat Oreos (because I feel less guilty) 2) Doritos (Ranch Flavor is a must) 3) Chocolate covered almonds. Should I be ashamed of my choices? Chocolate covered almonds seem to be the healthiest option but even that needed to be “chocolate covered”. About a year ago, I was watching videos on YouTube, and this beauty girl, juicystar07, was talking about how she keeps up with healthy snacks that win out all the bad snacks that she used to like and how much she feels better eating them. The snacks were from a subscription company called “NatureBox”. The name itself was very appealing so I went ahead and googled the company.

NatureBox has a subscription program where customers can choose three snacks per month at different prices according to different plans (3 month: $17.95/month, 6-month: 16.95/month, 12-month: 15.95/month). Snacks are made by NatureBox and all of them are health promoting with natural, hearty ingredients. There are 127 snacks to choose from and I assume even the most meticulous person can find good snacks here.

I ordered my first sampler for trial this month. I will update on the snacks as soon as it arrives.Until then, I will try to cutback on my guilty snacks.
